FAQ

What makes Still Ripple Acupuncture unique?
I believe we are approaching a major shift in health care where preventative practices and mindful-living are keys to sustainable wellness. In order for acupuncture to be most effective, it must be one piece of your overall health care plan. The ancient Chinese did not have access to modern day medical procedures or medications. Instead, they maintained their health through a comprehensive plan of diet, exercise, mindful-breathing, rest, meditation and acupuncture. At Still Ripple, individual lifestyle coaching is integrated into each treatment.

Do the needles hurt?
The needles used for acupuncture are sterile, disposable and slightly thicker than human hair. Many patients report not feeling the needles at all; others notice transient sensations of warmth, tingling or a mild ache.

What should I expect at my first treatment?
Your first 90-minute treatment includes a 45-minute discussion of your health, medical and social history followed by a physical exam and your first acupuncture session. Subsequent appointments are 60-minutes long and include complimentary lifestyle coaching, a discussion about shifts in your symptoms, and an individually designed acupuncture treatment.

How many treatments will I need?
The effectiveness of acupuncture varies greatly from person to person. Some people respond very quickly to treatment, others take longer. For long standing conditions, it may take several treatments to notice significant changes. Although each person is different, I prefer new patients to come weekly for 4-8 weeks. Treatments are cumulative in nature and initially you will receive greater benefits from weekly treatments. After that, we will extend the time between treatments to every other week, then monthly, and eventually seasonally.

What can acupuncture treat?
The World Health Organization and the National Institute of Health recognize acupuncture as effective in treating a wide variety of conditions including:

  • Allergies and Sinusitis
  • Arthritis
  • Infertility
  • Addictions
  • Fibromyalgia and other pain disorders
  • Problems with Sleep
  • High Blood Pressure
  • Peripheral neuropathy
  • Neurological Disease
  • Depression, Anxiety
  • Urological Disorders
  • Autoimmune Disease
  • Musculoskeletal Pain-including Neck, Back, Shoulder and Knee
  • Gynecological Conditions

  • Asthma, Emphysema, Bronchitis

What other treatments do you offer?
In addition to acupuncture I am delighted to offer the healing benefits of Reiki. “Reiki” which means “universal life force” is a hands-on Japanese technique for stress release and relaxation. Reiki supports and increases the flow of energy throughout the body, fostering the body’s innate ability to heal. Reiki is a wonderful option for those interested in experiencing energy work without the use of acupuncture needles. The fee for an hour long treatment is $70.
